I still talk about Beverly to colleagues I worked with at Convent of the Sacred Heart. She was an extraordinary math teacher with a brilliant mind and a loving heart. I will never forget that she supported her students and the school beyond what was expected of faculty. She was a colleague and friend that I will value for as long as I live. I was a fellow teacher at The Dwight School with Beverly. She was also a supportive friend, always willing to take that extra step to help everyone. She had a great sense of humor, and we would always laugh together as we ran to take the bus after our faculty meetings.

I miss her dearly! She was my math teacher in high school and I still think about her kindness that was often paired with sass. She really knew how to both teach and be friends with her students, something many other teachers weren’t able to master. 

I just learned of Beverly’s passing. What a loss for her family, and for students. As the former head of the Upper School at Convent of the Sacred Heart in NYC, I can say that Beverly, along with her colleague Rosemary Peeler, who are now together in heaven, were outstanding math teachers. Beverly’s dedication to her students, and to the school were gifts to all who were blessed to know her. 

Beverly was a colleague of mine at Convent of the Sacred Heart for many years. I am a visual art teacher, we were chairs together,  we met often, always an inspirational and motivating experience for me. I learned so much from Beverly about intelligent teaching, loving and her amazing Halloween trips with family to the great pumpkin festival.  I always felt accepted and valued by Beverly, she was brilliant, a spit fire of energy and spirit, giving her all to her students everywhere. I was just informed today, 1/10/22 of her passing. May God bless and keep her in eternal love.

I remember she used to teach a class with three of the biggest troublemakers in the grade, I can’t believe how she put up with everyone. She was one of my favorite math teachers. ❤️❤️❤️

Beverly and I were classmates at Sacred Heart High School .  We kept in contact after graduation.  Her husband and mine were in the Air Force and we shared stories of our assignments in far away places.  Over the years we lost touch with each other.  We always think there is "enough time" but life often reminds us that is not the case.  I am so sad not to have reconnected with Bev.  She is one of the bright spots that I remember from high school.  I am so sad to hear of her passing.  My sincere condolences to Bev's family.

I went to high school with Beverly and later she lived in the same apartment house as another classmate Cheryl Phalen.  Cheryl too has passed so I’m sure they’re together in heaven.

Bev, so sorry to hear of your passing. Thank you so much for hiring me into my current math teacher position. You were an exemplary teacher and an excellent role model. If often followed you in the curriculum, and whenever I mentioned your name to the kids, they burst into memories of fondness and learning. They really loved you, and they especially loved your stories about your unusual house, and how you related it to the study of geometry. And I personally thank for being willing to teach geometry! My deepest condolences….Beverly was an inspiration to her Shop Rite family …A friend who walked the walk ….Faithful and trustworthy….I was in Yonkers for my sister’s memorial 10/28-11/3 and was thinking of Beverly and our adventures on the front end at work and our friendship beyond….I will miss you dear sweet lady 💕

In 8th grade, I wasn't so confident in my academic (especially math) skills. Dr. Soares really helped me stay interested with her bright personality. She always made the class and I laugh even during stressful times like when we had tests. Aside from being a great teacher who was able to make her students happy, I hope she also was able to do the things in life that made herself happy. Thank you so much for making my school days more fun and something to look forward to Dr. Soares.
