Charles Peterson

Charles V. Peterson of Yonkers died on Saturday January 17, 2015 after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family at age 55. He was born on October 19, 1959 to Charles and Helen (nee Monahan) Peterson in Yonkers where he was raised and graduated from Gorton HS. Charlie was an electrician with local #3 for over 32 years. On April 27, 1985 he married Ginny Trainor in St. Anthony’s Church, she survives living in Yonkers. Charlie was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Lakers Association and a former coach with St. Anthony’s, Sacred Heart and the Yonkers Boys & Girls Club. Besides his wife Ginny he is survived by his 3 daughters Jamie, Kerry and Carly; his brother Martin (Clare) Peterson and his sister Peggy (Larry) Thomas; he is also survived by his in-laws Ed and Joan Trainor, Debbie (William) Wangenstein and Brian (Robin) Trainor and Michael Trainor and several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his parents Helen and Earl Smith. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday from 7-9pm and on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday January 21st at 9:30am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. A Scholarship fund will be established in Charlie’s memory; donations may be made to Ginny Peterson c/o 36 Shelbourne Road, Yonkers, NY 10710.
