

David A. Mordini, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Tuesday August 29, 2017 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. He was 70 years old. He was born to Aldo Mordini and Silena Scopino Mordini on December 3, 1946 in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. He was a graduate of Yonkers High School and attended Westchester Community College before joining the armed forces. Mr. Mordini served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He was a sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969 and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Parachute Badge. He belonged to the Rauso Am Vets Post #40 in Yonkers. Mr. Mordini was corrections officer and sergeant for the Westchester County Dept. of Corrections in Valhalla for 19 years until health problems forced his retirement in 1993. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. In his youth, he was a golden gloves boxer. He was an avid Met and Knick fan and enjoyed walking his dog, Rocky at Tibbetts Brook Park. On March 3, 1990, he married his loving wife, Dorothy Ciccinati in Sacred Heart Church. Mrs. Mordini survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Christian (Teresa) and Shane Mordini, both of Ohio and Joseph (Ana) and Reno Federighi, both of Yonkers, one daughter, Kelly Lee Mordini of Florida and one sister, Joanne MacKay and her husband, Darryl of Medina, N.Y. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, a niece and a nephew. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Stephen Mordini. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday September 2nd at 9:30am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
