Elizabeth J Travers

Betty was born on June 18, 1926 in Drumkeelanmore, Drumshambo, County Leitrim, Ireland. The oldest of nine children, Betty emigrated to New York in 1946.

Loving wife of Frank Travers, Betty is survived by two siblings, Sr. Frances Flynn SA of Graymoor, NY and Consiline Guckian of Leitrim, Ireland. Devoted mother of Rosemary (Tom) Vassallo, Marybeth (Keith) Kachnic, Francis (Breda) Travers, Thomas (Sharon) Travers, Brian (Joanne) Travers and grandmother to 15 beloved grandchildren.

Betty was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish in Yonkers, NY where she helped initiate the RCIA program. She was also a eucharistic minister and lector for many years.

Betty was a beacon of warmth and kindness, a source of unwavering support, and the epitome of unconditional love. Her presence filled our lives with joy and her strong spirit touched the hearts of all who knew her. Betty’s wisdom was boundless and her words of encouragement will continue to resonate within us. Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.

We invite family and friends to join us in honoring Betty’s life at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home in Yonkers on Monday, June 12 from 4-8pm. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church (Shonnard Place) on Tuesday, June 13th at 11:30am. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
