Grace Lynn McArdle

Grace Lynn McArdle (Ret. Y.P.D.) died on Monday February 1, 2016 at age 78 in Garden Ridge, Texas. She was born on August 12, 1937 to James and Jessica (Sagar) Lynn in Yonkers where she was raised and attended local schools and graduated from Sacred Heart H.S. Grace was appointed to the Y.P.D. on January 9, 1970 and was issued her father’s police shield #151. She worked out of the Youth Division for two years; then was assigned to Planning and Research Unit. On January 29, 1974 her official title had been changed from Police Woman to Police Officer and was transferred to the North Command, and worked in CPU. She retired from the Yonkers Police Department in July of 2001 after 30 years of service. She then was employed as the secretary to the director of housing at St. Christopher’s Inn at Graymoore in Garrison, NY. She then moved to Zephyrhills, Florida to enjoy her retirement and then moved to Universal City, Texas in 2013. Ms. McArdle is survived by her son Michael ( Roseann) McArdle of Brewster, NY and her daughter Michelle (Bruce) Broder of Universal City, Texas; and her 4 grandchildren; Mariah Vaughn, Michael McArdle, Rebecca Jones and Taylor Broder, her sister Christine Kerest of Doylestown, PA. and 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church at 9:30am on Saturday February 6th. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Peekskill, NY.
