John “Garry” McCabe of Yonkers died on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at age 85. Born on December 28, 1928 to John F. and Alice (Henebry) McCabe in Yonkers where he was raised and graduated from both Gorton High School and Pace University.
Mr. McCabe was the supervisor for Human Resources for the City of New York for over thirty years, retiring in 1994. Garry was a Korean Army Veteran; parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and former member of their Nocturnal Adoration Society. He was predeceased by his brother Donald who died in 1988. Also survived by Fr. John Clermont O.F.M., Cap, his Cousin and Debra Pennachio, a good friend and his caretakers Vanessa and June. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Monday, June 2nd at 9:30 a.m. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
