

John F. Miksad, a lifelong Yonkers resident died on Friday July 1, 2011 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital after a long illness. He was 75 years old. He was born on January 30, 1936 to John and Mary Kwasniak Miksad in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. Mr. Miksad was a warehouse supervisor in Refined Syrups & Sugars in Yonkers for thirty six years and retired in 1991. He was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Yonkers. He loved sports and horseracing, was an avid Yankee Fan and enjoyed fishing and crabbing. John served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957 and was stationed in Key West, Florida. On October 1, 1958, he married his loving wife Barbara Kaufman in Elkton, MD. Mrs. Miksad survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John F. Miksad, Jr. of Wilton, CT and Michael Miksad and his wife Nancy of Stormville, N.Y., one daughter, Suzanne Brown of Mahopac and one sister MaryAnn Wissner of Yonkers. He is also survived by seven grandchildren. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral Service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday July 6th at 10 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
