

Joseph was born in Brooklyn, NY at Brooklyn Navy Hospital and raised in Yonkers, NY. He was the son of Charles Carozza and Florence Gorman Carozza.
Joseph worked as a lineman for Consolidated Edison where he worked his way up to Senior Coordinator in Eastview, NY. During his career with Consolidated Edison, he was recognized by his employer for saving lives; Once saving a coworker in an explosion and also saving a woman in a car accident whose car was teetering off the side of a deep embankment.
Joseph was a cowboy at heart. He spent many years with his horse Gypsy riding all over Westchester and beyond, where he earned the name Gypsy Joe.
Joseph was active and involved with Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and played an important role in the fundraising for the continuation and restoration of the old Dutch church of Sleepy Hollow. He loved westerns, a good cigar, and taking road trips. His greatest accomplishment and passion was being a father to his children to whom he was fully devoted to. He was a pillar of strength and security.
Joseph was mostly recently the resident of Wappingers Falls, NY and Port St. Lucie, FL where he passed peacefully. Joseph was the beloved father of Tammi Figueroa, Cindy Thomas, Ben Carozza, and Anthony Presti; grandfather of Amanda Figueroa, Christina Irwin Plant, Julia Kirstein, Jake Thomas, Leia Thomas, Michael Presti and Benjamin Presti; great grandfather of Jace Morales, Adrian Morales, and Joel Plant; and uncle of Michael Robinson, Timothy Robinson, and Thomas Robinson.
He is predeceased by his father Charles Carozza, his mother Florence Gorman-Carozza, sister Maryrose Barry, and nephew Patrick Robinson.
Funeral services will be held graveside at St Mary's Cemetery 114 Sprain RD, Yonkers, NY.
For those who wish to pay respects, this will be a public funeral for those who would like to attend.
