Kenny O’Rourke, a lifetime resident of Yonkers, was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 13, 1948, died peacefully on May 17, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones. Kenny was the second youngest of 13 children being born with his twin brother John to the late William and Agnes O’Rourke.
Kenny and his family moved to Yonkers, where he grew up on Vineyard Ave and Schlobaums. This is were he made life long friends that he still shared his days with.
Kenny worked as a custodian in the Yonkers Public Schools for almost 40 years. He received countless letters of appreciation for his hard work and was employee of the month far too many times to count. He was the hardest working person you would ever meet and was committed to helping anyone at anytime.
He met the love of his life, Miss Jane, and shared their lives together for over 37 years. Jane and Kenny were inseparable as they loved to travel, party and make endless memories.
The love Kenny had for his family was unlike any other, unwavering and deeply felt by all who knew him. He was a father figure to so many and filled that void for his brother John’s four kids, The O’Rourke’s, and their children. Kenny was always that “Guy” a phone call away.
He loved his country, talking politics, was a scholar of local news events and everyone knew not to get in his way when it came to his bowling leagues. Another passion he shared with his Miss Jane.
Kenny will forever be missed. He fought hard in his final days just to stay with them all for a little longer. We know he has joined our family of angels to look down and watch over all of us.
