

Linda Earlene Chambers, the sixth child of eleven, born to the late
Thomas and Beatrice Cardwell, in Coaldale, West Virginia December 26,
1939.
She attended and graduated from Bluestone High School in Bramwell, West
Virginia. Upon graduating, Linda moved to Mt. Vernon, N.Y. where she
started her career at the Mt. Vernon Hospital as an Environmental
Service Technician. She met and married Lander Chambers Sr., and from
that union had one son, Lander “Russ” Chambers, raised in Yonkers NY.
Linda continued her career as a health care service provider, something
she truly enjoyed, at the Jewish Guild for the Blind in Yonkers for 27
years. After retiring, she worked at her husband’s business, which
consisted of several grocery stores. Linda had a strong sense of fashion
and took great care in choosing her clothing and perfecting her style.
No matter where you saw her, she always presented herself with a neat
and polished look. Linda was a kind and caring person, who would give
you the shirt off her back. She often attended Institutional AME Zion
Church in Cottage Gardens, Yonkers NY., where she expressed her love for
God and her Faith.
She is predeceased in death by her husband, Lander Chambers, parents
Thomas and Beatrice Cardwell, her sister Mary Washington, brothers,
John, Harold and Jimmy Cardwell, nephew/nieces. She is survived by her
son Lander Chambers Jr., grandsons, Lander Craig Chambers the III, of
Tennessee and Xavier D. Adair of Albany NY., her sisters, Ellen
Dickerson, Audrey Hollinsworth, Freda Echols, Peggy Stores and Patricia
Thompson, and one brother, Vernell Cardwell, along with a host of nephew
and nieces.
Visiting hours for Linda will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703. Final disposition is private.
