

Lorenzo S. Perez, Sr., a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Friday April 27, 2012 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. He was 72 years old. He was born on May 24, 1939 to Celadonio and Matilde Perez in Yonkers where he was raised and educated, graduating from Saunders Trade & Technical School. He then attended Mercy College where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Perez was a maintenance man for the Municipal Housing Authority in Yonkers for twenty years until his retirement in 2007. Most recently, he was working at the Yonkers Parks Dept. Seniors on Bronx River Road in Yonkers. Mr. Perez served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1961 and was stationed in Okinawa for a while. On September 27, 1963, he married Julianne Anderson in Elkton, Md. Mrs. Perez survives and lives in Yonkers. His family said “Lorenzo lived for his family: his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren”. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Luanne Jennex of Yonkers, two sons, Lorenzo, Jr.(Phyllis) and Blake, both of Yonkers and two sisters, Jovita Fernandez of Yonkers and Dora (Sal) Campoli of Ardsley. He is also survived by six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a sister in law, Alexandria Burns. He was predeceased by a daughter, Rhonda Stofko. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church on Tuesday May 1st at 10 AM.
