Peggy, as we all knew her, lived in Yonkers, NY her whole life. She graduated with honors from Commerce High in 1973. She married her husband James in 1980 and brought her wonderful daughter Bridget into the world on August 14, 1984.
Peggy was a hard worker. She helped at her brother Bobby’s deli on Lake Avenue for more than 15 years. Some say she only missed 2 days in all that time and her regulars could probably attest to this fact!
She played hard too. She enjoyed bowling and threw 8 in a row one night in her Homefield bowling leagues. Undoubtedly, her favorite times were the cherished ones that she spent sharing childhood stories, great food and laughter with all of her family and close friends.
A testament to her loving heart and commitment to family, Peggy took care of both her mother and mother-in-law when they were ill and living. Peggy would sleep on a foam cushion right alongside her mother every night so she could be there if she needed any attention.
Bridget was her pride and joy and they were the best of friends. Their love and devotion to each other was displayed throughout Peg’s life. She loved going to the track and casino with Bridget as her wing woman. She wouldn’t bet big but loved the excitement of the race. Bridget fulfilled a bucket list wish by bringing her on a trip to Vegas where she got to see her favorite fountains at the Bellagio Hotel.
James was the love of her life and their 43 years of marriage was a beautiful example of their love and commitment to one another despite whatever life threw their way.
She was loved by everyone that knew her, her kind and generous soul, her smile and Irish wit, made her a joy to be with. She will be missed dearly but never forgotten.
Peggy is survived by her husband James Hurlman, daughter Bridget Hurlman and daughter-in-law Carrie Hurlman. She is also survived by her siblings Thomas Millen, Ellen Karl, Augustine Millen, Robert Millen, Kevin Millen, Dennis Millen, Michael Millen and Garrett Millen. Peggy was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Thomas Millen, and brothers William Millen, James Millen, Ronald Millen and Patrick Millen.
Rest in peace and rejoice in Heaven.
