Maria Kira Zakotiria

She was surrounded lovingly by her husband and children as she left behind the suffering of battling cancer. Maria was born in Austria in 1945 and found residency in NYC in her early teens. She then met her military husband and married in 1966. She began her career in Suma federal credit as a bank teller 35 years ago and retired as the branch manager. She was admired and revered by both colleagues and friends. Maria was best known for her generosity to St. Michael’s Parish as she donated handmade floral creations throughout her years of devotion to the Church. Maria enjoyed a great laugh, a lively party and was often the center of each. She will forever be kept in the hearts and memories of those who knew her. Maria is survived by her husband Wasyl, daughter Tanya (Jerry Syrko), grandson Mark and two sons, Nicholas (Phyliss Juliano) Roman. Services will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday February 2nd from 4pm - 8pm. Pannakhyda service Sunday 7:30pm. Religious service will be 10am Monday February 3 at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yonkers. The Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY is the final resting place of God’s faithful daughter Maria.
