Mary Theresa English

Mary Theresa English (nee Thumm) of Danbury, CT, formerly of Yonkers, NY passed away in her home on Wednesday, November 29 at the age of 93. She was born in the Bronx, NY on September 24, 1925 to the late John and Elinor (Falvey) Thumm. Mary was raised in Yonkers, NY with her loving brothers Raymond and John (Jack) who predeceased her and her beautiful sisters, Helen, who also predeceased her, Ethel and “the baby” Eleanor. She was married to the late Bart English and is survived by her daughter, Arleen, (Gary) Pedone, grandson Devin, granddaughter Erin, son Bart English and Marvilla Morgan, her loving friend, companion and caregiver. Mary lived her life for her faith and her family. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a Den Mother and a faithful communicant of Christ the King Church, R.C., serving on the Rosary Altar Society and chaired numerous card parties to benefit Rosary Hill. Her employer, Con Edison, recognized her for her work with the elderly in Yonkers. She relished her role as Grandma and nothing gave her greater pleasure than spending time with them. Her family will remember her for her kindness, generosity and party planning talents. In lieu of flowers, family kindly requests a donation be sent to Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 30 Milestone Rd., Danbury, CT 06810. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday 4-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Christ the King Church on Saturday December 2nd at 10am. Interment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
