
Nicholas A. D’Ambrosio died on March 30, 2014, at age 99. He is survived by his wife of nearly 75 years, Ann (nee Sansone), daughter Livia Fennell, son Nicholas J. (Marilyn), granddaughter Maureen O’Loughlin (Brian) and grandson Raymond Fennell (Daniella), great-grandchildren Brianne and Marissa O’Loughlin and Danny and Ray Fennell, as well as sisters Frances LaConte and Terry Borelli, brother Dominick (Edee), and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by brothers Tony and Augustine, sisters Mary and Connie, and son-in-law Ray Fennell.
Nicholas was born on January 10, 1915 in Yonkers, NY, where he lived and worked until retiring from the U.S. Post Office and relocating to Boca Raton, FL. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan during WWII and with the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he helped build the Grand Coulee Dam in Washington State.
Nicholas and Ann, who were married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Yonkers on June 4, 1939, were recently recognized by Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan as the longest-married couple in the Archdiocese of New York.
Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Yonkers was private.
