
Robert J. Austin, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. He was 82 years old. He was born on November 23, 1930 to James E. and Mary Collins Austin in the Bronx. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers and went on to attend Columbia University. Mr. Austin was a head supervisor in the accounting department for N.Y. Telephone Company in New York City for many years until his retirement. He served his country proudly in Korea during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post on McLean Ave. Mr. Austin was a parishioner of St. Barnabas Church in the Bronx. On September 19, 1953, he married Norma Pascucci in Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Yonkers. Mrs. Austin survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Robert J. Austin, Jr. of Greenfield, Ma, Ronald L. Austin of Valley Cottage, N.Y. and Duane F. Austin of Avon, Ct, one daughter, Donna M. Rubin of Boca Raton, Fl, three brothers, Jack, Jim and Tom Austin and one sister, Pat Hayes. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gene and Charles Austin. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday 5-9 pm. Funeral service will be held in the Ferncliff Crematory Chapel on Saturday June 1st at 11 am.
