Rose Loughlin

Rose was born on July 29, 1929 and attended Yonkers schools. In addition to having a paralegal background, she was employed by various iterations of the New York, Bell Atlantic, Nynex and Verizon telephone companies, retiring in 1991 after 32 years of service. She also taught new employees.

In her spare time, Rose loved to travel both in and out of the U.S. usually accompanied by her sister, Suzanne Fenton or lifelong friend , Rose Marie McDonald. She also enjoyed spending time with The Yonkers Citizen Group, singing and dancing in various local plays and amateur shows. She received the Westchester County senior citizen of the year award in the late 1990's. It was with this group that she was stranded for three days off of the Gulf of Mexico on the cruise ship Carnival Triumph in 2013.

On June 25, 1957, she married Joseph J. Loughlin Sr. at St. Joseph's Church in Yonkers. They had one son, Joseph Jr. in 1958. Her husband predeceased her in 1982.

Rose is survived by her son, Joseph (Jacqueline), four grandchildren, Joseph III (Holly), Thomas (Kristin), Brendan and Kristin and four great grandchildren, Joseph IV, Gianna, Thomas and Alexandra. She also held a special place in her heart for her son's ex wife, Kathryn.

Visiting hours will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, located at 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703, on Monday January 12, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday January 13th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Yonkers, N.Y.
