Theresa “Tessie” Cherowitz, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Thursday June 25, 2015 at St. Joseph Nursing Home. She was 95 years old. She was born on Mach 17, 1920 to John and Anna Osenkowsky Cherowitz in Yonkers where she was raised and educated. Tessie was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and she was a member of the Finian Seniors. She was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Peter Cherowitz and four sisters, Ann Sweeney, Mary Kruck, Helen Kalata and Evelyn Kurilla. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday June 27th at 9:30am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
