She was born Juliette Kathleen Hosein on July 15, 1939 to Yusef and Sybil Hosein in the town of Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago. Along with her 5 siblings, she lived in Trinidad until she immigrated to the United States to earn a Bachelor of Education. After returning to Trinidad for a brief time, she again came to the United States, this time to pursue advanced education, receiving her Master of Arts in Geography from the University of Denver, Colorado. She served as a teacher for many years at all levels of education, ending her career as a Geography instructor at California State University, Fullerton.
In addition to her strong belief in educating future generations, she was a pillar of her community, universally loved and admired. She was active in many organizations, including the Parent-Teacher Association for her children and grandchildren, as well as the American Association of University Women. She would often tutor students inside and outside of the classrooms.
She loved to travel, and briefly worked part time as a travel agent. She visited many countries, including parts of the former Soviet Union just after the fall of communism. However, she always had a special place in her heart for Trinidad and visited often.
Juliet was preceded in death by her parents Yusef and Sybil, and two of her brothers, Shah and Rodney. She is survived by her former spouse and father to her children, Masood; her three children, Kaneez, Shahid, and Mohsin; her brothers Rolph and Emanuel, her sister Enid; and her grandchildren Justin, Jordan, Jared, Jacob, Joshua, Imani, Naseem, Siraj, Gabriel, and Iyan; and great-granddaughter Blaire.
