Vimlaben Prajapati passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 24, 2019 at the age of 70. She was born on September 25, 1948 in Nairobi, Kenya to Maganlal & Vijiyaben Mistry. On June 6, 1970, she married Babubhai Prajapati in England. They started their family and had 2 children. In 1980, they moved to California to raise their family. Vimlaben worked as an Electronic Assembler for over 30 years until she retired.
She will always be remembered for her amazing cooking, creativity, and resourcefulness. She would have a problem and always find a solution. She had a big heart and always was willing to help her friends and family in times of need. Anyone who ever came to their house always left full because she would not let them leave without feeding them some of her amazing food. She loved cooking and had such a precious gift. Most people will always remember her amazing bhaklava and samosas.
She was always by Babubhai’s side as they helped countless sisters and brothers improve their chances for success in life. She would drive them to classes, doctor appointments, job commitments, school, and never once complained while doing it. She just did it knowing they would benefit in the future and their kids would have a better chance for success in this life.
She was a member of the initial Prajapati Samaj of Southern California and always enjoyed meeting friends and participating in the yearly activities the group held, from the summer picnics to the Diwali festivities.
She was an active member and deacon of her church, and was always willing to cook meals for the entire congregation to help the church raise funds for various service projects.
In 2003, she started her journey as a Ma and eventually had 3 grandchildren -Parissa, Ameya, & Christopher. She listened to all their complaints and spoiled them like grandmothers do. The kids loved going to ma and dada’s house and getting spoiled. Ma never refused to make anything they asked for.
Vimlaben & Babubhai enjoyed taking some vacations together, and were able to go to India, England, Hawaii, and 2 cruises to Alaska and Mexico.
Even after her stroke in 2013, she never stopped caring for the people she loved. She was always looking out for others even though physically she was facing the hardest battle of her life. She proved over and over again what it’s like to be a warrior and fight through the hardest times in life.
Vimlaben is survived by her husband of 49 years, Babubhai, her daughter Jotika and son in law Chris, grandchildren Parissa, Ameya, and Christopher. She is also survived by her brothers Kantilal and Navin, her sisters Shantiben, Sushiben, and Urmilla, and countless extended family members including all of her nieces and nephews that she loved unconditionally. She never tired of talking to and seeing her family.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 10am at McAulay & Wallace Mortuaries and immediately followed by a memorial service at 11am, located at 902 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92832. Anyone who would like to attend and remember her life is welcome.
