Charles S. Balliet 94, Passed away on July 25, 2024. He was born in Newark, NJ on June 23, 1930 to Albert Louis and Arlene Ruth Balliet. He graduated from Mauch Chunk, PA (Jim Thorpe) Junior-Senior High School on June 16, 1948. He enlisted in the US Army on August 14, 1948. While stationed in Germany he married Margarete Hess and adopted two children Doris and Alfred. They had two more children Harry and Edwin.
During his military career he received multiple awards, commendations and medals such as a Bronze Star Medal, Defense Service Medal, 1st OLC Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Meritorious Service Medal. He retired in 1978 after 30 plus years of distinguished service to his country as a Master Sergeant and made his home Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, sisters Mamie Toth and Anna Mae Grosso, brothers Robert and Albert, wife Margarete and son Harry.
He is survived by his brother John and wife Lorna, sister Rosaline Zeigler, niece Maria and husband Paul Kettell, daughter Doris and husband Wes Davis, son Alfred and wife Sonya, grandchildren Sam and Dan, son Edwin and wife Angie, grandchildren Sophia and Lilah.
