Chris passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts to the late Mark Stephen FitzGerald and Pamela Sue FitzGerald (Kinion), stepson of Shelly FitzGerald.
Chris lived a simple life and was raised in Phoenix, Arizona where he graduated from Tolleson High School and enjoyed many activities. He enjoyed Special Olympics Track & Field where he liked to participate in short-distance running and shot put. He also enjoyed assisting his father in coaching youth soccer programs when he was a young man. He liked attending the school dances and roller skating. One of his favorite restaurants was Hooters, where he was able get a beer (O’Doul’s) on special outings with his brother's families or getting his favorite meal from McDonald’s with a Dr. Pepper each weekend. He always loved receiving a new watch to be like his Dad. He loved his weekly/daily phone conversations with his brothers to discuss what activities he has accomplished and what he could expect for the upcoming visits. Each day was a special moment, experience or interaction because he would remembered every little detail. He very much loved his roommates at AZTEC where he lived and the people who assisted him through his every day endeavors throughout the years.
Chris was survived by many people who loved him including his brothers and their families; Scott and Angela FitzGerald; children Benjamin, Brady, Brett, and Blake, Mark and Ashley FitzGerald; children Liam and Easton, Michael FitzGerald and Chelsea Coen; children Landan, Brooke, Jenna and his stepmother Charlene FitzGerald.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents Mark and Pam FitzGerald, grandparents John and Bernadine FitzGerald, J. L. and Betty Kinion, uncles Matthew FitzGerald, Beau Wilson and step-grandfather Potsy.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 starting at 1:00PM for close family and friends at Scott and Angie’s home at 2617 E. Cortez St., Phoenix, Arizona 85028. Chris’s ashes will be laid to rest in Willcox, Arizona with his mother Pam at Sunset Cemetery at a later date.
