It’s so wonderful to know that you loved being a father! Seeing you with your kids brings joy to my heart. You will forever be their earthly Tati. 

Flavius, I’m so glad you took your family to Japan. Samuel and Josefine have wonderful memories from your time together in Japan.  

Flavius, you were a good father ( Tati) to Samuel and Josefine. I’m so sorry that you don’t get to see them grow up. We will remind them of how much you loved them. 

Our friendship spanned almost 30 years. I remember when we met like it was yesterday. You sitting in front of the  restaurant Cafe Luna on Melrose in Los Angeles snd my having just exited.  We had some quick greetings and chat and we also found out we had a mutual Romanian Jewish connection.  We even spoke in Romanian and bonded.   

So many years of shared memories and life events - your beautiful children, my parents (who loved you and you were so wonderful to)) and so many birthdays and dinners. 
We shared our backgrounds, family stories throughout our friendship-

There was never a challenge or obstacle you didn’t take on and conquer, and with great immediacy  and mastery .  You were an incredible inspiration. 

You were an encyclopedia of knowledge, whether history or science or any topic, you always chimed in with facts and stories that would leave everyone captivated. 

The ease in which you connected with people you met, breaking the ice with wit and charm,, it was your unique style,   It was always fun to watch you in action - you were the epitome of cool. 
 
We shared our admiration for music like Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, and the movies of Toshiro Mifune and Alain Delon, The Italian film Festival when we’d go, & various screenings. 

And the unique, personal and  heartfelt writing you shared with close friends , all the beautiful poetry that you collected into books and your gift that you even used in your songwriting 
later on. 

You were always selflessly helping everyone , always concerned about your friends’ well being and health, always checking to see if they were taking their herbs and juices and exercising. 

You were a kind, genuine, gracious, spiritual and loving friend.  Loved you like a brother. I’m heartbroken that I will never see you again. 
We will always be thinking of you
 ( both Lisa and  I) and know in peace how incredibly loved you were by us and everyone who  had cherished knowing you.

Flavius, last night I couldn’t fall asleep and I was thinking of you. I remembered that when you were 16 and Ben and I had just gotten engaged, You liked this girl from church and you wanted to see her doing school hours at her school. I signed mom’s name and gave you an excused absence from school. Mom found out and dared to ground me!  A 20-year old, engaged woman! LOL. 
Thank you for the memory. It’s the only time mom grounded me.

From childhood we were the closest best friends.  Inseparable.   Too many fun memories that flood my mind so vividly everyday.  He was fearless, strong, ambitious without bounds and big dreams to match them.  Anytime he got knocked down he got on his feet against all odds.    He should have been last to go.  I thank God for giving me Flavius as a brother.

Saddened to hear of Vlads passing, thoughts & prayers for Vlad & his family.

Nearly all  of my adolescent memories involve Flavius, and I find myself smiling every time I think back to those days.  He once let me stay with him in Los Angeles, and I was blown away by the amount of people that were overjoyed to see him everywhere we went.  He was full of charisma and no matter how up or down his life was at any given time, he always offered advice to make other peoples life better.  Godspeed Flavius we will miss you. 

No words can express the depth of character, breadth of experience, or speak to the understanding and wisdom, of this great and humble man.  Nor can they fully convey the measure of sadness he that endured. He truly poured himself out for those around him. 

He was a Shomer and teacher to us and our people about Messiah Yahshua’s love, mercy, scripture, The name Yahweh Elohim, and the vast amounts of knowledge that he gained from his mentors, travels and endless studies. 

You are missed so much my brother. There has never been, nor ever will there be another like you in our lives. The days seem empty without you and our tears seek to fill the void. To us, you were a part of the family and a man among men - A leader who inspired us to deeper love. 

Around the time of his passing, and before I learned of this tragedy, I dreamt that he came to me and gave me a gift. It was a young rose bush. I understood this to be symbolic of love: his love, the Messiah’s love and something more. In his countenance there was a look of a kind of great brightness in and around his eyes. There were tears streaming down his red cheeks in a mixture of joy and sadness I believe. He spoke to me and said these words: “You must remember to forgive all those who have offended you.” Then he vanished. 

May we all run the race well and live to see you once again in the Radiance of Messiah Yahshua’s kingdom come. 


Flavius was one of my favorite uncles growing up. I remember once my sister and I got to go visit him in LA maybe 15 years ago. He was working in the film industry at the time. I remember him taking us to his work and introducing us to Cheryl Hines. I had no idea who she was at the time, but it was still the coolest to us. I remember he also took us to see Van Helsing (not exactly a cinematic masterpiece, but I still remember that night). He showed us all his amazing cameras and samurai swords, and introduced us to Kurosawa movies (maybe a bit beyond me as a kid, but I’ve come to).

I’ve actually thought about Flavius these last few years. I always wanted to reach out and say hi, I think he would have loved to hear that I work in the film industry now. I’m sorry I never did.

Flavius is my brother and he will forever be my brother. He used to love to push my buttons and get a reaction from me, at which point he'd just burst out laughing that he'd succeeded yet again to get to me:). He was always telling stories ( some more colorful than others). One of the last time we talked he was saying non-sense that I felt was rude and I told him to stop talking like that. And he said , " It's Friday. It's say everything "backwards" or "opposite" day. Jeez. Did you not ever watch Seinfeld?" He sent me the link to the Seinfeld episode he was talking about( which I did not remember). Flavius, I'd give anything to see your beautiful face and smile again and hear your voice, even if you would pick on me about something, or tell a wild story. Flavius loved my kids, and showed them kindness, especially Rebecca. He even convinced her to become a vegetarian for a year! That increased my kitchen duties, having to cook vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals:) LOL.  He was always trying to get us to become vegetarians . 
He loved music, and reading, and cooking delicious vegetarian meals. Flavius Benjamin Vlad, I love you more than you know. I'm sorry I wasn't a better sister. I will pray for your kids and show them love and kindness in any way that I can. 
I will see you soon. Say hello to Jesus for me. Till we meet again,
