Richard Joseph Phelan

He is survived by his mother, Janice, his wife Jane, sons Timothy Phelan, Jeffrey Carlson, Andrew Carlson, Brian Carlson, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, brother James Patrick and wife Deborah of Glendale AZ, brother Charles Voight, Phenix City, AL, (preceded in death by wife, Kathryn), seven nephews and nieces, eighteen great grand nephews and nieces and one great grand nephew.

A Maine West High School, Des Plaines, IL graduate, Richard trained as an electronic technician at De Vry Institute, was a professional in electronics and sound reinforcement industry for over 30 years. He was well known in Chicagoland for his expertise in sound design and computer implementation.

A ham radio operator, Richard also enjoyed working on recording projects, helping Sun City residents with their computer issues, motorcycles and cars.

A Cubs fan, a Celebration of Life memorial will be held during Spring Training in Mesa by his family and friends.

A devoted friend to many over the years, Richard will be fondly remembered for his willingness to always help others and maintaining decades long relationships.

His family will miss his long dissertations on various subjects.
