Ron was born in Ontario, Canada to Muriel and Wilson Laidlaw. He married Victoria in 1964 and they welcomed daughters Allison and Jocelyn. In 1969, the family moved west to B.C., establishing their home in Langley.
On December 9, 1975, Ron came upon a burning vehicle in a ditch on a rural road. In the dark, he kicked in the windshield of the vehicle and dragged the badly burned driver out of the ditch, driving him to hospital and saving his life. He was awarded the bronze medal for Bravery by the Royal Canadian Humane Association.
Over the years, Ron built a flourishing and dynamic career in real estate. In 1986, Ron moved to Phoenix, Arizona with his second wife, Bonnie. There, he resumed his career in real estate and property development. He loved to deal and negotiate and excelled at creative “closing”.
Ron loved to travel and shared those adventures with his family. He was a spontaneous and gregarious person, with a great sense of humour. At home, he played an active role raising his granddaughter, Sarah, and stepson, John.
Predeceased by Bonnie in 2013, Ron is survived by his daughters, Allison (Joe) Rogers, Jocelyn (Roger) Laidlaw Coroas, his grandson, Trafford Coroas, brother Murray (Hilda) Laidlaw, granddaughter Sarah Chunnui, and stepdaughter Lisa (Ken) Snaza. He leaves behind his dear friend, April, and his dogs, Gigi and Mimi.
A private service to be held at a later date. Ronald’s family offers thanks to Theodor Plosceanu of Our Parents Home Care and the doctors and nurses at Deer Valley Medical Centre for their compassionate care.
