It is with heartfelt sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Andrew Ostiguin Sr., age 83 on July 21, 2025. Andy was born in the small community of Allenfarm, Texas, and raised in the farm community of Courtney, Texas. He was the eldest of nine children and helped provide for his family. As farm workers from the 1940s – 60s, they traveled extensively throughout Texas and Michigan. His hard work and determination formed his work ethics and love for family. In 1964, he proudly joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country proudly in the Vietnam War (Tour 65-66). He was stationed at MCAS in Yuma, Arizona, and was Honorably Discharged.
Andy worked for many years in the 70s at Yuma County Water Users’ and BLM in the 80s. Andy eventually began his Civil Service’s career at Yuma Proving Ground at the Main Post and eventually as an Artillery Mechanic at the Kofa Range, until he retired. He enjoyed working there and made many friends.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents Victoriano Ostiguin Sr., Guadalupe Ostiguin and three brothers (Victor Jr. †) (Melita), Marcus and Alejandro. He is survived by his five sisters Modesta Flores (John †), Louisa Flores (Johnny), Lupita (Roger), Caroline (Tommy), Janie (Larry), aunts Tina Arnold and Eva Ostiguin and many nephews, nieces and cousins all from Texas.
Andy is survived by his wife Christina of 57 years and their two sons Andrew Ostiguin Jr. and Alexander Ostiguin; grandchildren Michael A. (Iza), Allissah A., Marcus A. Ostiguin and Andie Elaine Leon; great-grandchildren Sophia, Micaela, Isaac Jr., Andrew Leon, J’Da and Amara Ostiguin.
A Viewing and Rosary will be held on August 8, 2025 from 8:30 to 9:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission, located at 417 S 15th Ave., Yuma AZ 85364. The Funeral Mass will follow on the same day, August 8, 2025 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the same location. Burial immediately to follow at Johnson’s Desert Lawn Cemetery with Military honors.
A celebration of life will be held at the Elks Lodge immediately following as well, located at 1917 W 32nd Street, Yuma, AZ.
Pallbearers will be Michael A. Ostiguin, Marcus A. Ostiguin, David Miknaitis, Matthew Miknaitis, Jacob Miknaitis and Ray Ramos.
Honorary Pallbearers are Andrew Ostiguin Jr., Alexander Ostiguin, Allissah A. Ostiguin, Maurice R. Lopez, Kyle Dandoy, Isaac Leon Jr. and Andrew Leon.
