February 28, 1934 – January 1, 2025
Baldomera Rios Aguilera, aged 90, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, in Yuma, Arizona. She was born on February 28, 1934, at Rancho Las Trojes, Nochistlán, Zacatecas, Mexico.
In 1954, Baldomera’s family left their home in Zacatecas and settled in San Luis, Sonora. It was there that she met the love of her life, Macedonio Aguilera, in 1956. They married soon after and shared 58 wonderful years together.
Baldomera became a permanent resident of the United States and Arizona in 1960 and proudly became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1987.
Baldomera was a beacon of love, devotion, and warmth. As a mother, mother-in-law, and nana, her family was her greatest joy and source of pride. She spent countless cherished moments tending to her flowers and plants, crocheting beautiful creations, and babysitting her grandchildren, an activity that brought her immense happiness. She also kept detailed diaries and notes, documenting both the special and challenging events of her family’s life, leaving behind a treasured legacy of memories.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of Immaculate Conception Church, Baldomera found comfort and strength in her daily prayers, the rosary, and reading the Bible. Her unwavering faith guided her through life and inspired those around her.
Baldomera was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Macedonio; her parents, Petronilo and Juliana Rios; and her siblings, Miguel, Onesimo, Ofelia, and Guadalupe.
She is survived by her son, Louie (Gloria); her grandchildren, Louie Jr., Ashley, Andrew, and Abram; and her great-grandchildren, Ariana, Maddie, Alana, and Benjamin. She also leaves behind her siblings, Maria, Lucia, Esperanza, and Marci.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate teams at SW Hospice/Palliative Care and Hospice of Yuma for their attentive and loving care during Baldomera’s final 18 months. Your kindness and support brought peace to our family during this difficult time.
A Rosary will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Baldomera will be laid to rest alongside her beloved Macedonio at Desert Lawn Cemetery at Noon.
Thank you, Mom, for being a loving, caring, and devoted mother to me, a wonderful mother-in-law to Gloria, and the best nana to my children. You will forever be in our hearts.
We love you!
