Donald W. Kovacs joined his loving wife on Wednesday December 5th 2018. He was 87 years old. Born February 10th, 1931 in South St. Paul, Minnesota to Peter and Magdalene Kovacs. Dad grew up in South St. Paul.
His military career took him to Sioux City Iowa where he met and married Ada Ruth Baker. They were married 53 years.
He spent 22 years in the Air Force. After retiring in 1973 they settled in Yuma. He began his second career working for Yuma Union School District where he retired a second time.
Dad loved traveling the country with mom and the animals in their motor home. He loved to fish and was an avid gardener. He volunteered through St. Francis church giving communion to patients at YRMC and Yuma Rehab Hospital. He was a devout Catholic. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather as well a great great grandfather.
Don is survived by his three daughters Kris ( John ) Palumbo, Jamie ( John ) Williamson, Patricia ( Bruce ) Patmos. Ten precious grand children Tony ( Shannon ) Garcia, Christin ( Bart ) Wapler, Jennifer ( Christopher ) Caraway, Casie ( Gary ) Raymond, Kelly ( Mike ) McCormick, Marlena ( Bryan ) Slothower, Katrina ( Doug ) Stibel, Carlos ( CeCe ) Reynoso, Michael ( Jill ) Palumbo, Rachel ( Ryan ) Sgroia. Fourteen great grand children. One great great grand child, with one on the way. His sister Margaret ( Max ) Berchtold.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ada, daughter Lynn Garcia, son-in-law Alex Garcia, and three brothers.
Funeral Mass will be held December 20th, 10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church. Private interment to follow.
