Eloise Lugo Lucero "Nana L", wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, tia, godmother, friend and faithful servant, passed away September 2nd, 2016 surrounded by family at Yuma Regional Medical Center at 87 years of age.
Born in San Luis R.C., Sonora, Mexico to Rafael Monreal Lugo and Soledad Cuen Moreno, Eloise was the youngest and longest living of 12 children: Rafael, Federico, Ortencia, Gustavo, Eduardo, Carlos, Alfredo, Filiberto, Josefina, Constancia and Adelina. She is survived by her husband, Samuel "Sammy" Lucero, children Sylvia Hoffman and Anthony Lucero, six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Eloise graduated from Yuma High School, class of 1948 and married Sammy on Halloween of that same year. She was a devout Catholic who served as a Religious Education Coordinator at Immaculate Conception Church for 22 years and received much recognition for her services to the Church in youth activities and education. Eloise valued and celebrated God, family and education in that order. She was smart as a whip, tough as nails, a lover of travel, an incredible cook, a diehard Diamondbacks fan, a solitaire solver, a crossword queen, a Hallmark movie connoisseur, a source of wisdom, her family's biggest supporter, the humble matriarch, positive, caring, compassionate, generous and above all, a loving daughter of God.
We request that you lift her up in prayer in the way she always lifted up those around her.
