Deanie moved to Yuma around 1946 and started working as a waitress at Brownie’s Restaurant where she was the first person hired outside of the Brown family. She married Manford Lonnie Bowman on December 21*, 1948, and they had 3 boys: Steve, Craig, and Neil. In 1957, the family moved to Blaisdell where Deanie loved taking care of her family. Once her boys were grown, she worked for the USPS as a rural mail carrier and continued living in the “house that Papa built” until Manford’s passing in 2015. Shortly thereafter, she moved into town to be closer to her sons and daughters-in-law.
Anyone who knew Deanie, knew of her love for baking. She was known for her delicious “made from scratch” pies, cakes and cookies, which she would take to family, friends and even a doctor or two. The Bowman Family Thanksgiving celebrations were known for her desserts, especially the pecan pie.
Deanie is survived by sister-in-law Neva, sons Steve (Johnny Faye). Craig (Betsy), Neil (Beth), 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, the Sedlachek family (Debbie, Mike, and Alec), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:00am, Desert Lawn Memorial Park. A reception will be held immediately after at Johnson Mortuary.
