Harry was born in Phoenix, Arizona but made his home in Yuma for the last 50 years. He was a lettuce grower for many years and had the respect of the industry. He met and married his one true love, Jean Hagel in 1958 and they were together until her passing in 2005.
Harry leaves behind his daughter, Kim Johnston (Doug) and grandson Blake who will miss him greatly.
After his retirement and over the last few years, Harry enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and good friend, Trish at her home and around town. Known for his larger-than-life personality and love of a good bottle of wine, Harry could often be found at his favorite watering hole entertaining everyone as well as everyone that came through the door.
There will never be anyone like Harry Thornton again and he will be missed by many, but it is a sure bet that Jean, Joan and Andy will be waiting for him at the 19th hole in the sky with a glass of red wine and a hug.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared for the Thornton family.
