

Blackie worked for Arizona Health Care AHCCS for 22 years. She was a graduate of Kofa High School. She loved Christmas music & lights, camping in the desert, cook outs and spending time with family & friends. She enjoyed helping people. She had a big heart, she would put others before her needs. She always had a beautiful smile. She loved playing jokes on her family and watching her family play sports.
Blackie is survived by her husband, Jose J. Peynado; sons, Joseph G. (Mari) Peynado, Richard L. (Gabriela) Peynado, and Chris J. (Andrea) Peynado; brother, Ray Flores; nine grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Blackie was preceded in death by her parents, David Lum and Cristella Ruiz.
A wake and Rosary will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. A Scripture Service will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be George Peynado, Richard Peynado, Christopher Peynado Jr., Chris Peynado, Ray Flores, and Joseph Peynado Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are James Cruz "BJ", Rick Roberson, Richard Ponce, Joe Valenzuela, Loren Plymale, and Gabriel Lucero.
Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Yuma.

Helen Lum "Blackie" Peynado
A wake for Helen Lum "Blackie" Peynado, 61, will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Johnson Mortuary Chapel, where a scripture service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Cremation will follow.
She died March 11, 2010, at her Yuma home. Born Dec. 10, 1948, in Yuma and raised in Somerton, she was a case manager for the state of Arizona.
