Irv moved to Yuma with his wife, Dottie, in 1969 where he later earned his Master’s Degree in Education. He taught within the YUHSD (Kofa) for over 30 years. Irv loved to hunt, golf, and tell long-winded stories. He was an Olympic torch relay bearer in 1996, carrying the Olympic torch through Yuma. Irv was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, enjoyed time at his condo in Coronado, and never met a stranger.
Irv is preceded in death by wife, Dottie Johnson, parents, Irvle and Hazel Johnson, brothers Gary Johnson and Gene Johnson, and sister & brother-in-law, Dawn & John Curtain. Irv is survived by his daughter, Elaine McBride, grandson Lance McBride, brothers Ed Johnson & Tom Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Hospice of Yuma in his name.
