Janet "Jean" Turner, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Olson was born on November 29, 1925 in Park Falls, Wisconsin. Jean quietly departed this life on April 10, 2017 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, William "Bill" Turner, Sr., daughter, Bonnie Jean Turner, brother Charles Olson and sister, Charlotte Kallien.
Jean, at a young age, moved with her family to Phillips, Wisconsin where she attended public schools and graduated from Phillips High School. Jean was only a teenager when she was lucky enough to fall head over heels in love with the man who would eventually be her husband, William "Bill" Turner. Jean and Bill, who was in the Army Air Corp, married in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 18, 1944. Upon Bill's discharge from the Army Air Corp they lived in Chicago before moving to Prescott, Arizona with their two young daughters, Bonnie and Patti. In 1954 Jean and Bill moved to Yuma, where their youngest child, William "Bill" Turner, Jr. was born.
Jean retired in 1986 after working as a Principal's Secretary at James B. Rolle School for 24 years. She never forgot a name or face of the many students who attended school there. Years after she retired she enjoyed seeing former students and catching up with them. In addition to running the office, she enjoyed serving on the PTA and helping with both Campfire Girls and Boy Scouts. After her retirement Jean and Bill enjoyed traveling the country and attending their grandchildren's graduations and weddings. Jean also enjoyed knitting, reading and working outdoors in her yard.
Jean was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family playing cards and board games, enjoying outdoor activities and going to Martinez Lake to water ski. Sundays you would find the family sitting in El Charro having dinner after having spent the day at the lake.
Jean's beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children, daughter Patricia Dey (Rick) of Washington Crossing, PA and son, William "Bill" Turner, Jr. (Stephany) of Yuma, granddaughters, Heather Aivazian (Scott), Lindsay De Masi (Christopher), Randi Jean Sterna, sister Dorie Kachich and six amazing great-grandchildren, Tylar, Kylie, Caden, Jordan, Reagan and Christian.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel on April 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Interment of both Jean & Bill will be in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Washington Crossing, PA.
