August 20, 1937 – May 26, 2021
Joanie was a thoughtful caring person who would go out of her way to help others. She was a hard worker and was an avid softball player, golfer and bowler, and she was an excellent woodworker. Joanie was fiercely independent and at times stubborn, but she was “a good kid.”
Joanie retired from Rockwell International after 20 years and moved to Yuma, Arizona where she worked at Country Roads RV Resort as Supervisor of Security. After retiring from Country Roads, Joanie moved into Country Roads as a resident and enjoyed playing golf and shuffleboard. Joanie knew everyone in the park by name and many wanted her to come back to work in security, because it was not the same without her, she ran a tight ship. When Joanie committed to something, she gave it 100 percent.
Joanie is preceded in death by her mother, Marie Schlosser; father, P.A. Waller; longtime friend, Ann Simons; brother, R.A. Waller (Idell); and brother-in-law, Merle Morgan.
Joanie is survived by sisters, Joyce Martin, Donna Hensley (P.K.), Janet Morgan, Judi Dutton (Dale), Patricia White, and half-brother Rodney Waller (Lavonne); many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great, great nieces and nephews and she loved them all. In the past two years she particularly enjoyed spending time with her twin great, great nieces, Carter and Casey who brought much joy to her life.
Another great joy in her life was being able to help raise her nephew, David when he was young. Even in the end, she talked about how much he meant to her.
Joanie, blessed in life, was tired and wanted to go be with her Lord and Savior, she was ready to play cards and dominos with those who went before her. Those she leaves behind wish her well on her journey and will miss her greatly.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.johnsonmortuaryyuma.com for the Waller family.
