Martha Gloria Higgins(1929-2009)Martha Gloria Higgins, 80, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2009. She was born November 14, 1929 in Yuma, AZ.Martha was a receptionist for the medical offices of Dr. William Phillips and later for Dr. Henry Meyer. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and traveling.Martha is survived by her sons, Robert C. "Bobby" (Sarah) Higgins of Denver, CO, and Edward "Donnie" D. (Lupe) Higgins of Yuma; brother, Jimmy (Hortense) Duron of Yuma; sister, Elda Sanchez of Yuma; seven grandchildren;16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Higgins Sr.; mother, Felicita Romero; step-father, Frank Romero; sister, Bertha Contreras; grandson, Robert Preston Higgins; brother, Alfred Duron.A visitation will be held at Johnson Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Yuma, Arizona.Pallbearers will be Richard Marquez, Benny Sanchez, Ricky Arreola, Jimmy Duron, Anthony Calderon, and Gilbert "Gibby" Rivera.Honorary pallbearers are Roger DeCorse, Dr. Henry Meyer, and Manuel Medel.
