Robert Lee (Bob) Shaver, 83, of Yuma passed peacefully at his home on May 26, 2016, following a lengthy illness. He was born February 6, 1933, in Willcox, AZ to Victor and Lee (Elliot) Shaver. He moved to Yuma in 1964 where he met Rosetta Lambert. They married on February 6, 1972 and spent the next 44 years doing the things they loved most. Bob and Rose loved to travel and camp in their RV, spend time with family, and participate in the many fellowship activities at Immanuel Baptist Church.
Robert was known as Bob to most…Dad to 7 and Grandpa to 31. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandpa and the best friend anyone could ask for. Bob was a service technician for Sears until his retirement in 1995. He was a worker, a fixer, a maker, and an artist. Though he could build or repair just about anything, his passion was carpentry, and intricately detailed art pieces. He could always be found in his workshop, usually accompanied by a beloved dog, creating a treasure for family, friends, or his Church community.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; sons: Gary (Mickey) VanHorn, Mitch (Kim) VanHorn, and Robert Lee Shaver Jr. of Yuma. Daughters: Rita (Jan) Schmitt of Yuma, and Kathy (Emmitt) Myers of Filer, ID; brother, Alan Shaver; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and his beloved dog and constant companion 'Tinkerbell'
