Teresa Joanne Beckett

Teresa "Terry" Becket, 86, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 in Chandler, Arizona.

Terry was born in Chicago, Illinois. She moved to Yuma in the late 1940's and married Howard E. Beckett, who preceded her in death in 2011 after 63 years of marriage.

Terry was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Family and friends will remember her love of music, sewing, crafts, gardening, photography and cooking. Terry loved the beach at San Diego and the mountains of Julian, California. Terry's family gatherings were always overflowing with beautiful music, laughter, great food and good company.

Terry was a homemaker for many years and worked as bookkeeper for several local businesses. She then worked as bookstore manager at Kofa High School, where she mentored many students with her strong work ethic.

Terry is survived by her sister Deanne; her three children; Donna (Steve), Greg(Judy), and Ron (Kathy); ten grandchildren, Charles, Scott, Chris, Craig, Eric, Chelsea, Matthew, Paul, Julie and James; and four great-grandchildren, Samuel, Aria, Grace and Avery. She was preceded in death by her husband (Howard), parents and brother.

Terry's family appreciates the care and compassion shown her at Sunrise Assisted Living of Chandler and Comprehensive Hospice Care of Phoenix.

A memorial service will be help at 9 a.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Johnson Mortuary, 1415 S. First Avenue, Yuma, Arizona, Her final resting place will be at Desert Lawn in Yuma. Terry's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
