Frances was born in Cedarhurst NY and studied banking at Hofstra University and became the Executive Secretary for the Chairman of the Board of Peninsula National Bank in Cedarhurst.
She married Andrew Scala on November 6, 1954 and built a home in Westbury NY; had 3 daughters
Connie (Scala) Fox, Linda (Scala) Grubessi and Elizabeth Scala, 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Her family has fond memories of Frances cooking special meals, cross-stitching, and volunteering at the library of St. Brigid’s School, Westbury as well as at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre.
Frances moved from NY to Florida with Andrew to enjoy retirement. After her husband’s passing she moved to Pennybyrn at Maryfield in 2010 where she resided until her death.
Frances enjoyed all the residents and staff of Pennybyrn during her time there. The Sisters of the Poor were a special part of her life and she looked forward to going to Mass in the Chapel, visits from the Sisters, and receiving Communion.
Pennybyrn was dedicated to making Frances “feel at home” and her family wishes to acknowledge their respect and gratitude to all who loved and cared for her.
Services for Frances will take place at Donahue-Cecere Funeral home in Westbury NY with a mass at Our Lady of Hope Chapel and burial at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury NY.
