Carol Young, a longtime resident of Stony Point, New York, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was 76 years old. Carol was born on June 29, 1944, in Pearl River, New York. Her parents, Frances and Paul Bichette, raised her in Tappan, New York. She graduated from Tappan Zee High School in 1962 and achieved her Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Purchase.
Carol worked as Clerk of the Works for the County of Rockland. She retired in 1999 after 20 years of service. On September 29, 1990, she married Guy Young in a heartfelt ceremony at the Stony Point Battlefield, overlooking the Hudson River. Together, they created a beautiful family. Carol enjoyed photography, gardening, and playing golf. Carol and Guy loved spending time in their Cape Canaveral, Florida home, where they built lasting memories with their children and grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her children Paul Italiano (Debby), Jill Sheehan (Dan), Rosemarie VanAtta, and Michael Young (Patricia). She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Christina (William), Jessica, Kaitlyn, Kelly (Michael), Kevin, Brielle, Tyler, Danny, and Hope, as well as her beloved sister, Michele Johnson (Richard).
Carol is predeceased by her husband of 21 years, Guy. She is also preceded in death by her loving son, Neil Italiano, parents, Frances and Paul Bichette, brother, Richard Bichette and son-in-law, Eugene VanAtta. Carol leaves behind many wonderful family members and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point, New York, on Friday, March 26, 2021, from 4 pm-8 pm. On March 27, 2021, a mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point, New York, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, New York 10956.
