Born and raised in New Bedford, Melissa was the daughter of the late James and Estelle (Rosenfeld) Sachs. She was a 1968 graduate of New Bedford High School and recently attended her 50th High School Reunion. She earned college credit from Bristol Community College and went on to a lengthy career as a paralegal as a valued member of Attorney David Wylie in Boston. She was proud of her work, often pointing out various real estate properties that she had been involved with over the course of her employment as she drove through the city with her husband.
She met Paul in 1980, married shortly thereafter, though the couple's commitment was evident immediately. They lived in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood for some time before moving to Scituate in 1993 and enjoyed over 40 years of loving companionship. Melissa loved being outdoors, walking through the woods or on the beach and visiting Nantucket. She was a voracious reader and as of late, particularly enjoyed novels by Elin Hilderbrand as they were often set in her cherished Nantucket.
She was the devoted sister of Ilene Sachs of Boston, Steven Sachs and his companion Jo Ann Cabral of New Bedford, Scott Sachs and his wife Amy of Washington, NC, Franna Boyce of Boston (deceased). Sister-in-law of Jacqueline Balboni and her companion Roy MacDonald of Plymouth and Pat Pinnetti and his wife Suzanne of Plymouth. She was the loving aunt to Elissa Sachs, Maggie Sachs, Joe Pinnetti and Trysha Mackay.
A memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Tifereth Israel, 145 Brownell Ave, New Bedford.
