She was born in Dalles, Oregon on September 4th 1943 to Filmer Wilson and Retha Ferguson. She grew up in Dalles until she was 6 or 7 years old then moved to Portland, Oregon.
When my dad ‘Roger” returned to Oregon to visit his brother from the Navy he saw Shirley in the neighborhood. They fell in love immediately and got married on Sept 23rd, 1961. They moved to Olympia for the rest of their lives. They were married for 41 years.
She worked in a few different cafeteria in nursing homes. The last job she had was working for a Catholic Community Services as a caregiver. She retired in 2008. She had a passion for her grandchildren and great grandchild. She loved to talk on the phone with her relatives and send cards to keep in touch, she loved babysitting her grandchildren, growing flowers and shopping. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and cross stitching. She loved any chocolate candy and milk shakes. She had a huge heart. If she heard of anyone who needed blankets, clothes or pillows she would give them full bags of them.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Filmer and Retha, her husband Roger Corcoran, her brother Gene Wilson and sister Beverly Stowell. She is survived by her brother Frank (Ethel) of Portland, OR. Her children Randy (Cathleen) Corcoran of Rochester, Sherri (Mac Warren) Corcoran of Tumwater, Casey (Angie) Corcoran of Adna. Grandchildren Sheldon, Meagan, Ryan, Emily and Katie; Great Grandchild Jaxon Moore; her brother Frank (Ethel) Wilson, sister in laws Judy Corcoran and Patty Conner: her brother in law Kenneth (Esther) Corcoran. And numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all.
A grave-side service will take place on May 7, 2021 at Mills & Mills Memorial Park. Immediately following her service a lunch will be provided at Tumwater Historical Park Shelter, 1122 Deschutes Pkwy SW, Olympia, WA 98501.
