He married Jeane Broughton on August 26, 1952 in Lovington, NM. The couple moved from Farmington, NM to Odessa in 1958 and have remained in Odessa ever since. Jay was owner and operator of Mark’s Crane & Rigging and a part owner of American Energy. He enjoyed golf and traveling with his wife in their motorhome. He was a member of Mission Dorado Baptist Church, the Odessa Country Club and the Lone Star Chapter of the FMCA. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, a Mason of the York Rite and was a Shriner.
Jay was a man who led by example. He loved God and his family. Jay provided and prepared his family to continue after he was gone. He never sat down to eat without having prayer, thanking God for all of his family and for the food that he was about to partake. Jay prayed for the lost and helped many people in their time of need.
Jay is survived by his son, Gregory N. Leslie of Odessa; daughter, Connie Williams and husband Charles of Odessa; brother John Leslie and wife Linda of Wichita Falls; two grandchildren, Justin Lackey and wife Tracey and Krystal Moore and husband Craig; five great grandchildren, Destinee Marcum and husband Payton, Dalton Moore and wife Erin, Dyron Moore, Cortni Ortega, Jake Ortega, and Trystan Lackey; and four great-great grandchildren, Braylin, Bryer and Emerie Marcum and Baby Moore.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Jeane B. Leslie; parents; and his sister, Patsy Albertson.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 4-8 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 27th at 10 AM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home chapel followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Craig Moore, Dyron Moore, Payton Marcum, Jake Ortega, Charles Williams, and Justin Lackey will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Don Davis.
