Randy was born August 19, 1946 in Atoka, OK to Randel and Lorraine (Spinks) Vanzant. He was raised in Norwalk, California. He lived most of his young adult life in north west Arkansas where he worked as a truck driver for Willis Shaw Express and eventually retired from American Freightways. He met and married Vonelle Vanzant when he moved to Midland, TX in 1984. They lived in Midland until moving to Arkansas in 1993. He operated his own business in Midland, TX and worked for American Freightways when he returned to Arkansas.
Randy loved his Lord, Jesus Christ. He had a servant’s heart and did all he could for family, friends and strangers alike. He was devoted to his family and always put other’s needs before his own.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rondell Kimbriel and Debbie Reece, brother Garland Vanzant, and his granddaughters Jessica Atkinson and Stormy Sharp.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vonelle of the home; three daughters, Debbie Atkinson and husband Jeff of Harrison, Sherrie Davis and husband Mike of Lavaca, and Shelly Horn and husband Eddie of Bristow, OK; a son, Jeff Parsley and wife Lea of Boise, ID; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Connie Garrison of Midland, TX and Lynn Reece and husband Preston of Alpena, AR; a brother-in-law, Greg Schulze of Central City; and many more beloved family and friends.
Visitation will be at Grace Fellowship in Fort Smith on Wednesday April 28, 2021 from 10am to 12pm with the memorial service to follow at 12pm, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Dr. Kyle Jarnagin will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 pm Thursday April 29, 2021 at Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison, AR with Rev. Harry Olsen officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Parsley, Jeff Atkinson, Mike Davis, Greg Schulze, Charles Hunt, and Aaron Smith.
