Born June 20, 1947 in Cabool, Missouri to Delmar George and Levena Grace (Archer) Ellis, she married Gary Wayne McCart, Sr., on June 26, 1965 in Cabool. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Shelly Ann (Steve) Baker of North Pekin; one son, Gary Wayne (Michelle) McCart, Jr. of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Katrina McCart, Ashlie Reinhart, Gary Wayne McCart, III and Madison McCart; three great-grandchildren, Mya Gibbs, Camron Garrison and Elijah Wayne McCart and two sisters, Debbie Murr of Lebanon, Missouri and Janice McCain of Springfield, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Donald Ellis, Lloyd Ellis and Lindel Ellis.
Venita loved children and was an in-home day care provider for more than 30 years.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin, where she was the Founder of the Faith Force Cancer Support Ministry. She also was a Patient Advocate for the American Cancer Society and the author of “It’s Cancer – Finding Help and Hope on the Road to Recovery.
Venita was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time together as a family.
Her funeral will be at noon on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor David Auxier will officiate. Visitation will be two hours before the funeral. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
