Jim passed away in Kingsport, Tn at the age of 75 after a 7 year battle with dementia. He was born in Winter Haven, Fl but grew up in Kings Park, NY on Long Island. After graduating from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fl in 1968, he lived in the central Florida area until 1999. In addition to his BS degree, he completed many Masters level courses in Rehabilitation and Business Administration. He also learned sign language and worked with the Hearing Impaired community for many years.
He was employed by the State of Florida for 31 years with HRS, Blind Services and during the last 25 years of his career with Vocational Rehabilitation as a Counselor, Unit Supervisor and District Supervisor. After retiring and moving to Charlottesville,Va he worked for 5 years with the Virginia Employment Commission as a Counselor. After moving to Tennessee in 2005, he worked part time at Waldenbooks until 2011.
Over the years he enjoyed golf, bowling, reading and playstation games. He will be remembered for his intelligence, sense of humor, ability to work effectively with others and his love of animals. Jim was a humble, pragmatic person who spent his life helping others to be more successful.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sara, and his 2 aunts and numerous cousins in Florida.
