In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Betty Lou Covington, James Covington, Mary Garrison and brothers in law Robert B. Spivey, Earl Garrison, Frank Wilson and Cecil Seal.
Doraleen loved life, trips to the beach and celebrations with family and friends. She was a superb bowler being a member of the 600 Club. Avid golfer, winning the club championship for 7 years at Echo Farms CC, as well as a hole in one during the 1984 Pine Valley Member Guest. She was a member of the General Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by the love of her life of 58 years, Robert Lee Joyner; daughters: Theresa J Miller and husband David and Wendy Lee Joyner; grandchildren: Austin Brackin (Bethany), George Saunders, Spencer Saunders, Madisyn Miller, Sheridan Miller; great grandson Jackson Brackin who referred to her as Tootsie Roll Nana; siblings: Edith Valentine (Ben), Margaret Seal, Elsie Wilson, Joe Covington (Linda), sister-in-law Della Covington, beloved cousin Dianne Sheppard, and many nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
Family and friends will be received 2 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Long Leaf Baptist Church 317 Shipyard Blvd, followed by a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Dora’s four o’clock coffee and dessert will be served immediately after in the fellowship hall in celebration of her 76th birthday.
