1930 - 2021
Auburn - Fred. R. Bernard, age 90, of Oxbow Drive in Lewiston, passed away early Wednesday morning May 26th at The Hospice House with family at his side. He was born in Mexico, Maine, one of five children born to George and Anna (LeBlanc) Bernard and was educated in Rumford-Mexico schools. Fred was a Military Veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Navy until his Honorable Discharge. In September of 1957.
Fred married the former Rosalie Jannace and together they settled in Rumford to raise their family. Fred worked as Coordinator Engineer for Central Maine Power for more than 32 years until his retirement in 1989. In 1976, CMP transferred him to Lewiston and it was there they have resided ever since. Fred and his wife Rosalie are faithful parishioners at Holy Family Church in Lewiston. He is a Past Exalted Ruler with the Rumford Elks Club and a member of both the American Legion and VFW. Among his favorite enjoyments in his free time were playing golf and traveling. He enjoyed good times with his family, especially with great-grandchild Gavin and grandchild Jason. Fred was a loving, devoted and hard-working husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed. He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Rosalie Bernard of Lewiston; a daughter Linda Noble and husband Lance of Waterville;
his two grandchildren Jason Larrabee and wife Hillary of Lewiston and Angela Larrabee and companion Gabe Wentworth of Oakland, Maine; five great-grandchildren; and
many nieces and nephews.

A public visitation will take place at The Fortin Group / AUBURN Thurs. 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church Fri. 11 AM. Interment will take place at a later date at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd. Augusta. Arrangements are under the care of The Fortin Group Funeral home and Cremation Service 217 Turner St. Auburn, 783-8545.
