Memorial service will be held on June 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Tye Baptist Church, Tye Texas. Family visitation will be held after.
On September 29, 1935 Mary Frances was the third child, born at home in Tye, Texas to Edwin Aubrey Moore and Remona Vivian Crawford. She was welcomed by brothers Elmo Crawford and Davie Jack Moore. Nancy Ellen and Paul Edwin completed the family. Mary Frances took the role as big sister seriously and was the younger sibling’s teacher in their wooden playhouse for hours at a time. Mary Frances was a country girl at heart and enjoyed her childhood tremendously.
Mary Frances attended and graduated from Abilene High School in 1956. On a double date with her dear friends Melvin and Kathryn White she met and later married Orlin Thomas Smith who at the time was stationed at Dyess Airforce Base. Orlin and Mary Frances were married in Tye, Texas on May 5, 1957.
Mary Frances and Orlin welcomed Daryle William, Kathryn Suzette, Laura Lee and Eugene Grey. Mary Frances and Orlin moved many times throughout their married life and Mary Frances always made the new residence a home with faith and family at the forefront. Mary Frances worked for Blair ISD as the lunchroom supervisor. She loved baking on a large scale. Mary Frances throughout her entire life was active in church and all church related functions. Dementia could not stop Mary Frances from teaching vacation bible school to all of the residents in Stoneybrook.
Mary Frances was a wonderful and amazing woman. She had a great love for people, took in neighbors and made them family. She was devoted to her faith, family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary Frances was preceded in death by her parents Edwin Aubrey and Remona, her brother Elmo and her two sister in laws Betty Sue and Sara Mae whom she adored and her beloved Aunt Cherry.
Mary Frances is survived by her husband Orlin Thomas Smith. Her children, Daryle and Kathy, Suzette, Laura and Coleman, Gene and Stephanie. Grandchildren, Kyle and Colby, Kody and Brittani, Dylan and Rachel, Colten and Carlee, Cody and Becky, Jaeger and Lillian Remona. Great grandchildren, Kyler, Kynlee, Colbyn, Austin and Chesney. She leaves Jack Moore, Paul and Jo Moore, sister Nancy Ellen Moore, special sister in law Wilva Marshall, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and so many special friends near and far.
A special heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at the Stoneybrook Memory Care Unit in Hewitt. To the most amazing angels Beverly, Hope and Terri with Alamo Hospice, our family can never thank you enough for caring for our mother during her final days.
