Hickory – Virgie Prue Proctor Stallings, 87 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Born on April 8, 1934 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Katie Smith Proctor. She loved the sunshine and being outdoors. She was also a hard worker and loved her family. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Virgie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Stallings; 3 brothers, Eugene Proctor, Everette Proctor and Howard Proctor and a sister, Wilma Steen.
She is survived by a brother, Billy Proctor; 3 daughters, Diann Rhoney, Debbie Hoover (Kenny), and Kady Ward (Randy); 3 sons, Johnny Bumgarner, Mike Bumgarner and Jeff Bumgarner; 14 Grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Open Word Holiness Church at 3153 Blackburn School Rd, Newton, NC 28658 with Pastor Matthew Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park at 3010 US Hwy 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28601.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her beloved Open Word Holiness Church in Virgie’s name.
